This book describes and illustrates the history and development of all the known flags and standards used by the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Third Reich. Sixty of these highly detailed flags and emblems are illustrated with great precision in full colour. In addition over 130 carefully chosen photographs — most of which have never before been published — feature the flags and standards in use: being presented, dedicated, and displayed; as well as carried on many important military parades by members of the German armed forces, including paratroop formations and the Legion Condor.
The text gives background details of arms of service, individual units and command appointments and these too are supported with over 80 photographs specially chosen to emphasize the nature of the units, show the portraits of important leaders and provide a valuable photographic coverage of the subject.
Precise details and specifications of each of the flags and standards are given. The distinctive accoutrements used and worn by members of the German armed forces appointed to carry these colours are also described and illustrated.
