The outstanding architecy of the mediaeval Azerbaijan - Ajami son of Abubekr -was born in Nikhchivan nine hunddred years ago. He spent his life there creating his magnificent works. Ajamy Nakhchivani ( Ajamy of Nakhchivan`) - whose creative activity left deep and immportal traces in the history of Azerbaijan mediaeval architecture - was the head and most brilliant representative of the Nakhchivan architectural school. He exerted a decisive influence on the entire scheme of development in the lands which now comprise the Nakhchivan Autonomus Republic and adjacent territories. The Influence of Ajami`s creative work can be easily traced in the creations of many architects of the countries in Near East....
Nakhchivan plays an important role in the history of the material culture of Azerbaijan - its significance being especially vivid in the development of the mediaeval architecture of this country.
In the Midlle Ages Nikhchivan was a major centre of Azerbaijan culture.....
