Zoran Perisic invented the `Zooptic` zoom & dolly system that helped Superman fly, in the 1978 film. This volume is about the processes that they mainly started/used in the `pre-digital` film era. Clearly, this was THE expert in the field, however, and film historians, for one thing, will gain a clearer understanding of how things were done in the `old days`. It is true, though, that the use of projection and blue screens/green screens is still done, and that the digital era simply extends these techniques. There is a lot of information here about optical printers, the now largely obsolete pieces of sophisticated equipment, that were used to do everything from space scenes, to titles for films. There are still some usable methods in here. Today`s special effects people will do well to round out their knowledge of effects, and photography, by owning a copy of this, which is a bargain, in the used market. To make effects in today`s world, you will need further reading, however. A definite bargain, for the complete filmmaker.
