Brioude à la grâce de la lumière... Née sur des terrasses alluviales au soleil, elle doit son nom à sa vocation, Brivas-le-Pont, dès l`époque gallo-romaine. Un événement fondateur (au début du IVe siècle) –; le martyre d`un soldat romain –; fait d`elle un centre rayonnant à partir du premier oratoire élevé sur la tombe de Julien. L`époque romane y élève la plus grande des églises d`Auvergne comme haut Lieu de pèlerinage et halte sur le chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle vers Le Puy et Conques. Un millénaire d`hégémonie du Noble Chapitre modèle le bourg, la basilique et le pèlerinage où triomphe la polychromie des pierres, des fresques, du pavement dans la progression liturgique de la lumière. Aujourd`hui, un grand artiste contemporain, le père Kim En Joong, a réalisé en ce haut lieu de résonance l`étonnante communion de cœur autour de la lumière victorieuse des ténèbres. -- Brioude, by the grace of light... Born on sun-bathed alluvial terraces, it owes its name to its location, Brivas-le-Pont, which dates back to the Gallo-Roman era. At the beginning of the 6th century, a founding event - the martyrdom of a Roman soldier - made this place a centre of inspiration, right from the first oratory built on Julien`s tomb. In the Romanesque period, they made it the biggest church in Auvergne, a place of pilgrimage and a halt on the way to Saintiago de Compostella, near Le Puy and Conques. A thousand years of hegemony of the cathedral chapter shaped the town, the basilica and the pilgrimage, a triumph of polychromatic stone and frescoes, background to the liturgical progression of light. Today, a great contemporary artist, Father Kim En Joong, has made an astonishing communion of the heart in this zenith of radiance, a victory of light over darkness.
