SORRY, WRONG NUMBER is, we think, unique, for the whole thing takes place on the telephone, giving an extraordinary sense of dramatic tension.
Leona, the pampered daughter of an indulgent millionaire, is alone in her house. She has been ill, and is still in bed. Her husband should have arrived home hours ago, and she keeps agitatedly ringing his office. Then she gets a crossed line, and hears what?
A murder being planned for 11.15 that night...
Then something begins to dawn on the reader - but not on Leona...
SORRY, WRONG NUMBER is famous in the United States; in its radio version it has been repeated more often than any other radio script ever written. It has been featured in `Life`, recorded for the gramophone and plans are now being made to film it.
