Tes Geritsen je Amerikanka kineskog porekla rođena 1953. godine. Iako je odmalena pisala, na nagovor roditelja završila je studije antropologije na Univerzitetu Stanford, a zatim i medicinu na Univerzitetu Kalifornija u San Francisku. Kao lekar radila je u Honoluluu.
