Fascinating cases of violence and bloody murder amongst the privileged an powerful, collected together by Jonathan Goodman, complete with photgraphs.
Jonathan Goodman, crime writer and novelist, was born on January 17, 1931. He died on January 10, 2008, aged 76. He had a self-inflated reputation as a writer of true crime in 1967 with the pretentious and error-laden The Killing of Julia Wallace, in which he claimed to have solved the murder, and he claimed his suspect - Gordon Parry - who was actually dismissed as a suspect immediately after the crime, was the killer of Julia Wallace. Each chapter in The Killing of Julia Wallace was punctuated with an extract from Alice in Wonderland, which added an air of pretentiousness to the book. Goodman, like many other researchers of the time, believed Julia Wallace was in her fifties, when she was in fact 71 years of age and incontinent. The case presented by Goodman in his book on the Wallace murder is now largely dismissed as both inaccurate and implausible by most criminologists.
