Plant lovers, botanists, and trained naturalists alike will welcome this valuable field companion to the flowers of Europe. Designed for quick and easy plant identification, the guide identifies over 1,000 flowers by plant type and color. Simple marginal symbols and a key at the
back of the book show at a glance flower shape, habitat, and distribution. Nearly 2,000 color photographs enhance the text and permit easy identification of all the plants described. The common English names of plants as well as the scientific Latin names are provided, and a fully illustrated
glossary of botanical terms rounds out this invaluable reference source. With or without a specialist`s knowledge, users will consult The Concise Guide to the Flowers of Europe with pleasure and have at their fingertips a clear and accessible flower guide to accompany their
travels.
Oleg Vladimirovitch Polunin (November 1914 – July 1985) was an English botanist, teacher and traveller. He was for many years the Botany master at Charterhouse School. He retired early to concentrate on his books and traveled in his Volkswagen bus all over Europe, searching for plants and photographing them.
