Elvin Jones Live was taken from a John Coltrane Memorial Concert performed at New York`s Town Hall, Sept. 12, 1971, and featured his group at that time, Frank Foster on soprano and tenor saxes, Chick Corea`s piano, Joe Farrell`s sax and flute and Gene Perla`s bass on two extended compositions...This was five strong individual artists giving exceptionally of themselves, bringing forth a record where the dynamics of the whole were equal to the sum of the parts, making for an exceptional and truly beautiful record.
