Cromwell je britanski povijesni dramski film iz 1970. godine koji je napisao i režirao Ken Hughes. Temelji se na životu Olivera Cromwella, koji je ustao da predvodi parlamentarne snage tijekom kasnijih dijelova engleskog građanskog rata i, kao Lord Protector, vladao je Velikom Britanijom i Irskom 1650-ih. U njemu glumi ansambl glumaca, predvođen Richardom Harrisom kao Cromwellom i Alecom Guinnessom kao kraljem Charlesom I, s Robertom Morleyem kao Edwardom Montaguom, 2. grofom od Manchestera i Timothyjem Daltonom kao princom Rupertom od Rajne.

Film je dobio dvije nominacije za Oscara tijekom 43. dodjele Oscara održane 1971. godine, osvojivši jednu za najbolji kostimografski dizajn Vittorija Nina Novaresea, ali izgubivši još jednu za najbolju originalnu glazbu, koju je skladao Frank Cordell. Također je nominirana za nagradu BAFTA za najbolju kostimografiju i nagradu Zlatni globus za najbolju originalnu glazbu. Na 7. Moskovskom međunarodnom filmskom festivalu 1971. osvojio je nagradu za najboljeg glumca (Richard Harris), a nominiran je za Zlatnu nagradu kao najbolji film (Ken Hughes). [3] Film je dobio negativne kritike zbog mnogih povijesnih netočnosti; međutim, mnogo je pohvala pripalo glumi (posebno Harrisu i Guinnessu), partituri i kostimografiji.

Charles Gray as the Earl of Essex: Lord General of the New Model Army.
Michael Jayston as Henry Ireton: a well meaning yet manipulative parliamentarian. He pushes Cromwell into actions, which the latter initially doubts but pursues them eventually. Ireton`s marriage to Cromwell`s eldest daughter, Bridget is not mentioned in the film.
Douglas Wilmer as Sir Thomas Fairfax: a fair minded commander who joins Cromwell and the parliamentarians in their cause but has some respect for the king.
Geoffrey Keen as John Pym: the leader of the Long Parliament.
Stratford Johns as President Bradshaw: the judge and President of the Court during the king`s trial.
Ian McCulloch as John Hampden: a leading parliamentarian and one of the five members whom the king attempted to arrest.
Patrick O`Connell as John Lilburne: an English political Leveller.
