Modern esthetic dentistry An A to Z guided workflow
I was privileged to read, previous to its publication, the present blueprint atlas written by Dr Vincenzo Musella.
The book begins by focusing upon the essential premise of communication between clinical and technical dentistry, also known as dental photography. The topic is expressed in a clear manner, aiming to be specifically used within the field of dentistry. The reader immediately realizes that this text is straight to the point and clear in its essentiality.
After this interesting section on photography, which is richly illustrated, the book begins to describe the technical and clinical aspects of “esthetic preview,” a technique that the author makes his own through a series of subtle and valuable changes he applies to the established approach; in this way, Dr Musella expands the concept and achieves results of the highest quality.
The simplicity of this text enables swift and easy reading, which consequently fuels a desire to read further in order to obtain and contemplate the final results.
This book provides the sense that wax, plaster, silicone, composites, and ceramics lose their individual identities to coalesce into a unique and single element. This could be compared to when individual musical notes, merged together with precise chords, can no longer be recognized as distinct notes but rather as a composed melody.
The latter combinations, from the hands of the artist, are developed further and begin to exist around a common thread: esthetics, a natural product of the profound and evolutionary knowledge of dental anatomy and occlusion.
The conclusion of this book focuses upon how the aforementioned elements aim to achieve dental excellence through the technique of inverse layering. The new method for this technique that is demonstrated and explained in this book allows the simple realization of direct and indirect dental restorations with an incredibly natural result through the targeted and unique stratification of different masses of composite.
The author’s approach to the inverse layering technique and esthetic preview represent the obvious result of continuous technical, clinical, and dental materials research; all of this permeated with love and sensitivity for the topic. The excellent results achieved are produced not as a matter of luck but rather predictably as a result of the beautiful fusion between art and science.
Reading this book and looking at all the photographic evidence it is impossible to remain untouched by the fascinating nature of these innovative technical methods. This text undoubtedly is of aid to those who, in the pursuit of excellence, wish to improve their knowledge and professional success.
