This is the kind of book I enjoy, Mango simply states facts and moves on without much embellishment. As a result, it is quite dry. If you`re the type of person who enjoys colourful story telling within a history, then this book is probably not for you. If you`re like me, you`ll simply enjoy the facts being dryly described. Mango does include interesting stories and primary sources to break up some of the straightforward information.


Beyond the descriptions of Ataturk and his life, it also goes into detail about some of his colleagues, World War I, and the Republic of Turkey in general. I learned about a lot more than just Ataturk in this biography, Mango gives the reader a great political setting in the late Ottoman Empire and early Republic of Turkey to surround the life of this great man.
