About this title

Rani Lakshmibai, or Jhansi ki Rani, as she is popularly called, was the brave Maratha queen of the princely state of Jhansi. This revolutionary queen was one of the most prominent leaders of the First War of Indian Independence. This beautifully illustrated book will transport you to the life and times of Lakshmibai, from the time she was born and named Manikarnika, to how she earned the nickname Chhabeeli for being excessively mischievous and talkative, and to how she became the courageous Maratha queen of Jhansi and lay down her life, fighting for the country.

This little book is a real story of one of India’s most famous Historical characters – RANI LAKSHMIBAI, The Queen of Jhansi.
The story is written in around 700 words and targeted to please little readers in the age group of 5–8 years. At 5, they are just starting to read while at 8 they are equipped to read simple stories with interesting illustrations that trigger their imagination.
This book and many more to follow in the series will be an attempt to enlighten our children about Indian and World History at large in the time to come without delving into micro aspects of History that usually bogs them down. Hence, kids will enjoy the broader aspect of Historical stories and at the same time will get inspired and interested in learning more in school books as they grow older.
