Dialogue Between Orthodox Christians and Muslims in the Balkans (1-3, komplet) / Th.D.,Ph.D. Aleksandar Praščević

Knjiga I: Contribution of Serbian Orthodox Patriarch German to the Dialogue with Muslims (1958-1990)
Knjiga II: Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Pavle on Islam and Muslims (1990-1997)
Knjiga III: Contribution of Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Pavle to the Dialogue with Muslims (1998-2009)

The publication of this book comes at a crucial time when, on the one hand, the need for dialogue into coexistence between Muslims and Christians, and especially Muslims and Orthodox, seems never to have been more pronounced, and on the other hand, after the death of Patriarch German to this day there has not been dialogue or encounter between the leaders of the two monotheistic religions. Therefore, the importance of this work is great because it reminds us of the obligation of inter-religious cooperation and gives us a new impetus to follow in the footsteps of our religious dignitaries and restore dialogue between Christians and Muslims at the level of the Patriarch and the Reis-ul-ulema as soon as possible.
The particular significance of this book is reflected in the review of the written correspondence between Patriarch German and the leaders of the Islamic Community.
The author gives us a clear insight into the strength of mutual respect of the two leaders and tells us that today we should follow the course undertaken by Patriarch German from one and Reis-ul-ulema Rahmetli Sulejman Effendi Kemura.
I read this manuscript with particular attention and great enjoyment and I warmly recommend it to all. Quite equally, this work is important for both the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and imams, but also for believers - Christians and Muslims alike.
This manuscript has practically brought to life the work of venerable dignitaries, especially Patriarch German, and will undoubtedly leave a positive impact on readers who, I am convinced, will transmit what they have read, for the sake of peace and coexistence, and faith in the One God. The author Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic puts us to the task with this work.
Professor Mufti Mevlud Effendi Dudić, Ph.D.
President of the Islamic Community of Mashihat in Serbia

It is an exhaustive and comprehensive review of Orthodox Christian-Muslim institutional contacts, in chronological order, enabling us to perceive an important and rather hidden dimension of social and religious interaction in Serbia, in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, and also within a wider scope of inter-religious dialogue, where the Serbian Orthodox Church had been incomparably present and more active than is usually assumed. Prascevic`s contribution to the information on this issue is of fundamental and essential value, because it establishes a firm reliable base, as a hitherto non-existent precondition for any further serious examination.
Professor Darko Tanasković, Ph.D.,
Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade

The author of this study fortunately had at his disposal first hand sources — documents filed at the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, at the Holy Synod of Bishops and at some of our Dioceses. The documents are filed in the archives and ordinary researchers do not have ready access to them. On the other hand, it is of value because through this study readers are introduced to the all particulars of very complex inter-religious relations in our region during the recent war conflicts.
All future researches on the subject of the dialogue between Orthodox Christians and Muslims will have this valuable book as a starting point: both as a source of information and as a competent study.
Professor protopresbyter Radomir Popović, Ph.D., Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade
