The Municipality of Kalambaka is in the centre of Greece, at the north-west of the Thessalian Plain, boasting a unique geological phenomenon around the world, Meteora.
The municipality extends for 277,087 m2 and its population, according to a census (2001), rises to 11.739 people.
The majority of people have either taken up agriculture or are employed in the tourist industry, due to the cultural, religious, historic and ecological singularity of Meteora.
The Municipality of Kalambaka is made up of nine communities: Avra, Vlachava, Diava, Kalambaka, Kastraki, Kria Vrisi, Megali Kerasia, Orthovouni, Sarakina and four settlements: Agia Paraskevi, Vitouma, Koromilia and Nea Zoi.
