from Introduction:

Why do we study Geography? Not many years ago this subject consisted of learning by heart long lists of names of capes, bays, mountains, towns, and so on. This was probably due to the great importance attached by the early explorers to capes, bays, and other landmarks for the purpose of navigating their vessels. In recent times, however, methods have changed. Geography is now looked upon as the study of the earth as the `home of man,` and the treatment of the subject may be described as human geography. We endeavour to discover how man in any particular area adapts himself to his surroundings, and what is his relationship to the other occupants in our very complex world. The essential facts in the geography of any area are closely connected with one another, and the study of them resolves itself very largely into solving a succession of problems in `cause and effect.`

Nonfiction, Geography, Antili, Antilles
