The Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland presents this DVD containing films and readings specially commissioned for the National Library of Ireland`s exhibition `The Life and Works of William Butler Yeats`. The Library exhibition was supported by the family of W B Yeats who generously donated manuscripts to the Library and lent materials for use in the exhibition. The films contain rare archive footage and interviews with major artists and many of the great Yeats scholars. They provide an illuminating look at four crucial aspects of Yeat`s life and work, as well as giving the viewer an insight into Irish social, cultural and political life from the late 1800s to the 1930s. The DVD also contains an interactive version of the exhibition, along with recitals of a selection of Yeat`s poems.
