IZUZETNO RETKO!
Trez , pseudonym of Alain Tredez , born in Berck on February 2, 1926, is a French press cartoonist , humorist and painter .
After brilliant secondary studies (this son of teachers obtained his baccalaureate at the age of fifteen), Alain Trez studied law and the Institut d`études politiques de Paris and is said to be self-taught in painting, `or almost if we put aside the two or three years he spent at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière ` [ 1 ] .
He collaborates as a cartoonist for French and foreign newspapers and magazines ( Paris Match , Lui , Punch , Life ) and publishes with his wife Denise fourteen children`s albums in the United States; he has worked in advertising, created posters, cartoons, he was the political cartoonist for France-Soir from 1973 to 2000. In 1990, he received the prize for black humor and in 1993 obtained the prize for tough humor [ 1 ] before devoting himself to painting. Rémy Le Fur reports for the magazine Artension : `his works, which he describes as paintings/drawings as the two techniques are intertwined, tell human stories, often grating. Filled with signs, winks and above all characters, anonymous representatives of a humanity perplexed or lost between vitality and despair, generosity and stupidity, they are also full of colors, but tinged with a black or bitchy humor` [ 2 ] .

Critical reception
“Animated compositions of characters, monsters, in the tradition of Gaston Chaissac or Jean Dubuffet .” - Bénézit Dictionary [ 12 ]
`The humanity that emerges from the whole work is contained in these lunar faces with round eyes, these balloon-like, plump bodies, in these round gazes. Alain Trez, clearly, speaks of the human condition: dismay, anxiety, candor, timidity, perplexity. But his brush also works in tenderness, dipping itself in the colors of hope. Tinted with irony, `funny curious`, or, as Trez says in one stroke: `a painting more droll than funny`. - Patrick Le Fur [ 1 ]
`Alain Trez`s true vocation is painting; the kind that requires tubes of paint, brushes, palette, etc. After a move towards abstraction, Alain Trez now paints with serenity large, fat figures full of colorful touches, variegated verniculars, inspired scratches and tears of the most beautiful effect.` - Michel Laclos [ 1 ]
`Trez, a crooked humanity but in a festive atmosphere: all these twists, these threads and these filaments, this madness of zigzagging lines that the characters, frozen, stole from them... In Trez, men are the immobile subjects, deformed or in the process of being formed, of a world that dances.` - Yves Berger [ 1 ]
