Ross Verlag je bio nemački izdavač razglednica, poznat po produkciji i distribuciji visokokvalitetnih razglednica američkih i evropskih filmskih zvezda širom Evrope, od 1919. do 1944. godine. Osnivač je bio Hajnrih Ros (Heinrich Ross). Fotografije poznatih ličnosti imale su dozvole za objavljivanje direktno od holivudskih studija ili su dobijene od mnogih evropskih foto studija tog vremena. Mnoge od ovih fotografija vrlo verovatno nikada nisu objavljene nigde drugde.
Izdavačka kuća Ross Verlag je prvobitno bila poznata kao „Ross“ Bromsilber Vertriebs G.m.b.H (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung [društvo sa ograničenom odgovornošću]), što u osnovi znači „kompanija za prodaju srebro bromida (process proizvodnje fotografskih razglednica) d.o.o.“. Prvobitno je Ross poslovao kao distributer razglednica, ali je ubrzo postao izdavač (verlag).

Pil je bio i jedan od 11-oro čuvenih reditelja ere nemog filma u Nemačkoj. Na razglednici je glumac u kostimu maharadže iz filma “Panik” (1928)

Hari Pil je nemački glumac, reditelj, scenarista i producent, poznat po akcionim filmovima i izvodjenju sopstvenih kaskaderskih scena, aktivan od 1912. do 1953. Režirao je preko 150 filmova. Zbog čestih scena eksplozija u njegovim filmovima stekao je nadimak “Dinamit reditelj”.
Problemi za Pila počinju filmom „Panika“, o krotitelju životinja koji radi za nemačke zoološke vrtove. Na vrhuncu filma, vazdušni napad na nemački grad oslobađa životinje iz kaveza. One slobodno trče ulicama, ljudi su prestravljeni i samo lovac-heroj može ponovo da uhvati zveri. Tokom snimanja, dogodila se nesreća kada je tigar koji je učestvovao u snimanju gurnuo Pila unazad, a ovaj je zatim pao sa nekoliko metara visine. Vlasti su smatrale da su vazdušni napadi u filmu prikazani previše realistično i nisu želele da javnost poveruje da je Nemačka u opasnosti od bombardovanja, pa je film zabranila cenzura Rajha. 72 negativa Pilovih filmova, uključujući skoro sve njegove neme filmove, nestalo je tokom vazdušnih napada u Drugom svetskom ratu.

Ross Verlag was a German postcard publisher, renowned for the production and distribution of high quality movie star postcards throughout Europe of both American and European performers from 1919 to 1944. Many of these photos quite possibly were never published anywhere else.
Ross Verlag was first know as `Ross` Bromsilber Vertriebs G.m.b.H (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung [company with limited liability]), which basically means `silver bromide (the photographic postcard process) selling company Ltd.` Originally, Ross operated as a distributer of postcards, but soon became a publisher (verlag).

German “dynamite” director, actor, producer and screenwriter Harry Piel (1892-1963) made over 150 sensational films full of explosions and stunts. These explosions were often authentic. In 1915 he became too bored with just standing behind the lens and started acting before the camera. His first film as a leading actor, Die grosse Wette/The Large Bet (1916) was a science fiction film on the subject of man-machines.
Difficulties for Piel began with Panik/Panic, film about an animal catcher who works for German zoos. At the film`s climax, an air raid on a German city frees the zoo animals from their cages. When they run loose in the streets people are terrified and only the heroic trapper can recapture the beasts. During the filming, an accident occurred when Piel was pushed backwards by the participating tiger and then fell several meters deep. Also, the authorities found the air strikes too realistic and did not want the public to believe that Germany was in danger from aerial bombardments, so the film was forbidden by Reich censors. 72 negatives of Piel films, including nearly all his silent films, perished in a WWII air raid.
