Professor Dimitris Chorafas, is uniquely qualified to take a world view of the Knowledge Revolution. His dual status as international management consultant and cosmopolitan University Professor has taken him to 43 different countries in four continents in the last ten years. He speaks English, French, Spanish and Greek fluently and is proficient in Russian and German.
Professor Cho`fafas’ international business experience has been most extensive. In his early career he was engaged on mathematical simulators, systems engineering and executive development with I.B.M. in Europe and the U.S.A. He was Director, Management Information Systems, with the giant American consultant firm of Booz, Allen and Hamilton International Inc. Since then, as a corporate management consultant in his own practice based in Paris, he has worked with Bull-General Electric; Allegemeine Elektricitats Gesellschaft (AEG) and Telefunken; Compagnie Frangaise Thomson-Houston; Nestle; UNIVAC in the U.K., Europe, and Scandinavia; Pechiney; Osram GmbH; Omega (Louis Brandt et Frire, S.A.); Olivetti; ANTAR—P6troles de l’Atlantique; National Iranian Oil Company; Finnish Defence Forces; Compagnie Generate Transadantique (French Line); American Management Association, and Management Centre/Europe. His projects have ranged from top-level company re-organisation to market strategy, operations research*, electronic data processing and long-term corporate planning. He has conducted seminars on executive development for C.S.F.; Shell-France; Le Materiel Tele-phonique; C.R.C.; the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the French Army.
A Fulbright scholar, he received his education at such diverse institutions as the Sorbonne (Docteur de l’Universite de Paris en Mathematique), the University of California (M.S.E.), the University of Denver, and George Washington University. His first degree, in mechanical and electrical engineering, was from the National Technical University, Athens, Greece. He has been Professor of Engineering at the Catholic University of America, Visiting Professor of Information Science and Business Administration at Washington State University, Visiting Professor at the Centre of Industrial Studies of the University of Geneva, and since 1968, Visiting Professor, School of Information Science, Georgia Institute of Technology.
He has had over 30 major works published in eight countries.
