One of the most reliable and best bang-for-the-buck vintage turntables you can find these days. Both the drive and tonearm are excellent, being closely related to the higher end Technics turntables. If it`s in good condition, you can mount a $200+ cartridge and get incredible sound. Some people like to fill the plinth with plasticene clay for added mass to improve sound, which I haven`t done. The SL-Q3 is the full automatic version of this deck, and the SL-Q33 is a much harder to find full automatic deck with the record detection system and tonearm motor of the SL-1600/1700MK2. The SL-Dx series is the non-Quartz Lock version of these turntables, and are also excellent.
