The CD is made-up of two complete radio programmes: Bill Haley, Freddie Bell & The Platters are featured in the first broadcast from January 1957; the second was heard in October 1957, showcasing Little Richard, Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran, who gives a rare performance of `Whole Lotta Shakin` Goin` On`, accompanied by Little Richard`s band! There are various interviews on both shows.

All live performances, suprisingly audible, emanating from an Australian Radio program. Cochran, Vincent, Richard, Haley, et. al, are all at their fighting weights, doing their hits the way we want to hear them. On one occasion, we are treated to a real time-capsule event: Mr. Eddie Cochran rocking with Little Richard`s band! Not sure if it`s the Artist Later To Be Known As The Architect on keyboard, but with Charles Connor providing that real rock drive, it`s too amazing to describe in 10,000 words.
Richard gets down on his a current hit `Lucille`. Vocally, he`s very close to the record, but the band is even funkier, if you can imagine that. At one point, it seems that someone gets a little lost - perhaps the studio acoustics plus the audience made it difficult for the sidemen to hear - but the sound is unbelievable. Following that full performance, we hear a long and *serious* interview with a superstar obviously inent on changing directions musically, personally, and spiritually. It`s interesting that you can hear the 24-year old R & R Hero actually expound on that subject writers and the man himself have referred to: the `signs` in the sky for the secular world to behold and consider before it`s too late. Yes, Sputnik passed over Brisbane [Soccer] Stadium (?) and Richard was moved. In contrast to his ebullience on disc, he speaks in a soft, yet compelling way about his career path.
One might expect him to sing a gospel tune at that point, but he launches into an arrangement of `Long Tall Sally` sounding alot more like the Specialty side `She`s Got It` - a bit more rockabilly.
Yes, there aren`t many recorded examples of Richard with The Upsetters of the `50s, especially *live*.
By the way, with all great respect to Amazon songlist above, Richard`s vocals are `Lucille` and `Sally`, only.
The Host is quite respectful to the performers; asks intelligent questions.
The interview with Eddie C. is quite extensive and informative. His voice is way up in the mix.
All in all, a very surprising package, infinitely significant.
