A failed caper involving a bankroll heist and a missing wife. Vintage hard-boiled mystery paperback with colorful painted cover art showing bondage theme. There are differences in the front cover between 1st and 2nd printing. The 2nd printing has white lettering, a different catch phrase `Every minute she had was borrowed, and every second ticked off the time for murder` on front cover and the original painting was air brushed to increase whiteness of female body and darkness of background. Lionel White (1905¿1985) was an American journalist and crime novelist, several of whose dark, stylish Hollywoodesque crime drama stories were made into films. White (also known as L.W. Blanco) had been a crime reporter and began writing suspense novels in the 1950s. He wrote more than 35 books, all translated into a number of different languages. Paperback has an almost perfect cover with no creases nor wear. Interior is tight, clean and unmarked, but two pages have been turned under during storage. Pages have not been damaged, but lowers the condition grading from Fine (As New). Copyright 1957. Stated Gold Medal Book (Original edition of book). From 2nd printing of July, 1960. No ISBN nor LCCN. MSR = $0.25. James Meese (illustrator).
