The World`s Most Extraordinary People and Me - Mark Dolan

I enjoyed Mark Dolan`s TV series about extraordinary people and him. All sorts of `-est` people paraded over the TV screen with higher or lesser amount of visual amusement while the author rather skilfully managed to get out of them their motivation and lifestyle consequences of their choices (or predicaments). If the TV series focused more on the `extraordinary people` the book now gives better focus on `me` - Bolan asks questions that I would like to ask all those people. He doesn`t just play the ball (or tennis) with this people, he tries to understand their lives and their social environment.

What I like the most about Bolan is that he is not shy from going much deeper in his explorations, not just focusing on the freak show in front of him. He approaches all his subjects as any other regular folks, spends time with them and communicates with the person, not just the exterior. The book gives far greater and deeper insight, not just about the Bolan`s `and me` part. If initially all those extraordinary people can grab your attention due to their uniqueness, Bolan by the end of each chapter manages to present the person inside, lightning up often unexpected and very ordinary human psychological layers.

Thanks to this book I also find out more about Bolan and his inspiration. He is very funny and has great insight and he is never judgemental. I got to like him much more than just after the TV show, and as of his subjects - thanks to Bolan, I got to understand them too, on the level that is more than just skin-deep. This book is a great joy to read and quite often I was left thinking what would I done if...
