This colourful autobiography covers the full career of world rally champion Ari Vatanen, who has won many of the sport`s prestigious rallies since he began driving in 1971. Close to death after an accident on the 1985 Argentinian rally, Vatanen spent 18 months winning a personal battle over serious injury and depression heightened by a fear that he had contracted AIDS. His return in 1987 saw him go on to win the infamous Paris-Dakar Rally, and become the centre of contreversy when his car was stolen whilst leading the same rally in 1988.

Ari Vatanen gives an often personal and revealing insight into his life, sport and family, including a moving account of someone reconciling a return to a dangerous profession and of a fight back to fitness. Every Second Counts is an autobiography as fast as exciting as the sport it covers and the life it reflects.
