you can buy a book that can help protect you and your family in case of a disaster or conflict. You can get ideas of what items to prepare and how to act after such an issue occurs. Just having a plan is a good start but having a prepared list and kit set aside for food, first aid, weapons, tools, clothing and shelter can go a long way to determine if you survive or not.

Being prepared and not panicking is a key. This book is an ideal primer on how to survive and what to prepare for such an emergency. There are many such books available but with this one having been a guideline for the US Armed Forces I felt it was a good one to start with and I have owned it for many years.

Every family should have a book like this and the responsible adults of the family should review it and understand it. The old saying is, `An ounce of prevention (preparation) is worth a pound of cure.` This is the perfect reason to be ready.
