All though this is an older book and some of the material is dated all of the organizational and physical concepts remain pertinent to the procurement, renovation, renting, leasing or owning questions that will inevitable need to be answered. It excels with in the areas of understanding how to use various size spaces, design considerations and check lists. Although technological advances have changed the way that various parts of a theatre work the basic concepts remain the same. Whether you have a manually operated pin-rail or a microprocessor controlled pin-rail, spaces and budgets must be incorporated into the plan.

I am on the Board of Directors of Grosse Pointe Theatre in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and I am also the Chariman of our New Building Committee. This is the first book I purchased when I began this process. It asks and assists in answering all the right questions. Supplement it with additional more recent publications and web searches to deal with the advances in technology.
