The Linksys BEFSR41 router can be used to create a small wired network to share a cable or DSL Internet connection. This Linksys Wired Router has four built-in 10/100 switched ports that can serve as connection points for four different computers or other devices linked via Ethernet cables. If it becomes necessary to connect more devices, extra hubs and switches can be connected to the four-port router to enlarge the network. The computers connected to the Linksys BEFSR41 router not only link to the Internet by sharing a single connection, but they can also share files and resources, such as printers and scanners. Setting up a network with this Linksys Wired Router is simple because it supports universal plug-and-play, which enables specialized applications to assist the user during the configuration process. The four-port router also has a browser-based set-up system to access advanced set-up options. The security management features of this Linksys Wired Router include a stateful packet inspection firewall and NAT technology with MAC address filtering, port filtering, and demilitarized zone hosting functions so no intruders can connect to the users network.
