This book was great! I originally started reading this book because i saw it in a reading list for foreigners who would like to study Japanese law in japan. I Can say this book has taught me the foundation i need to seek further and dive deeper into the world of law. There were multiple elements in this book, not only legal. There were very deep cultural and psychological contexts which gave much more understanding to not only the legal aspect which was explored thoroughly for introduction but to life in general. When reading this book, i found that a lot of the things discussed had transferrable skills for the real world and not just legal jargon.

An excellent primer for any attorney, law consultant or anyone wishing to practice law in Japan, as it gives the perspectives of Japanese society on lawmaking, social contract, unofficial negotiations and many other things. Very useful as a retrospective for business partners of Japanese companies. Beware though, this book was originally published in 1947, then updated and reedited in 1976, so you should then read contemporary law books.
