Cornell University Press, 1989 - 219 p

This is a major new study of what may be the most significant and extraordinary series of events since World War II: Mikhail Gorbachev’s attempt to fundamentally reform the Soviet economic system.

In this work, Anders Åslund investigates the ongoing Soviet reform process in a detailed, empirical, and analytical manner, tracing its origins and examining its development. He begins by assessing the state of the Soviet economy and exploring the reasons that prompted the leadership to launch economic reforms.

Drawing on a multitude of recently published Soviet sources, as well as extensive interviews with Soviet specialists, Åslund presents a far starker and more troubling picture than is usually conveyed.

Contents

Origins of the Economic Reform

Alternative Programmes for Economic Revitalisation

Changes within the Traditional Framework

Changes in Enterprise Management

Reform of the Economic System

The New Policy towards Private Enterprise and Cooperatives

Evaluation of the New Reform Wave

About the Author

Anders Åslund received his doctorate at the University of Oxford. He served as an economic analyst in Moscow from 1984 to 1987, during which time he interviewed numerous senior Soviet economists and officials. He has also travelled extensively throughout the Soviet Union. From 1987 to 1988 he was Research Scholar at the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies in Washington, D.C. At the time of publication, he was Associate Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics.

*************
An investigation of the process of economic reform in the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1988. The primary concern is to describe the shape that reform has assumed and to evaluate reform strategy. The approach is to proceed from non-systemic changes to reforms going outside the present system of allocation and ownership. Familiarity with Soviet politics and economics is assumed.

Ako vam takve stvari smetaju, pitajte me pre kupovine da proverim.

KOMUNIKACIJA:
Komunikacija ide isključivo preko Kupindo poruka, ne telefonom. Budite normalni.

POPUSTI, CENKANJE I SL.:

SUSEDNE ZEMLJE I INOSTRANSTVO:

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
I will send abroad. For your calculation, one hundred dinars roughly equals $1. Please register here:
