The truth is one of the basic components of the human spiritual being and its physical existence. But, the truth is indivisible from the freedom of man and of peoples. As many other peoples in the world, the Palestinians showed and proved that in the struggle for truth and freedom there is no price that should be paid, even the most precious, in countless victims. The Palestinian INTIFADA - uprising against the occupation which is over 20 years old is portrayed in the very determination of the youngest generations - children and youth and their mothers and sisters. Synonyms for the truth and freedom are peace and equal rights for all, notwithstanding their origin, religion or cultural and political views. As nowhere else, the principles of human rights from the U.N. charter and the entire conscience of modern mankind, are being cruelly tested on the territory of Palestine.

The author of this book has tried to show how the Palestinian people through their liberation movement fight to spread the truth about their inalienable rights in modern conditions of media communications. The attempt is interesting both in approach and in content. The more so since this is the first time that this topic is discussed in research work paper. That is what should be borne in mind as well as that the author is a young researcher. His pioneer effort deserves credit, the more so since, we hope, it will be a motivation for deeper, more comprehensive research of this significant field. The possible omissions of the work should be viewed in that context. The author has given us his image of an interesting aspect of the overall Palestinian efforts. It is of no less importance that the author is from the ranks of the Arab intelligence which contributes to restoring the dignity of the Palestinians in this way as well.

The Arab-Israeli conflict and especially Palestinian-Jewish conflict over land and basic human rights is the most complex modern geo- political, historic and moral problem of our time. In its numerous aspects, the search for the truth is certainly the essential question for every just and lasting solution. The hard-line attitude of Israeli policy and propaganda are presented in detail in this work. Still, it is unfortu- nate that, probably out of objective reasons, the voices in Israel saying: our people must be told the full truth and what we want for ourselves we must recognize for others, in this case the Palestinians, was not presented here.

Author Haysam Serrieh was born on July 23, 1959 in Damascus, where he finished elementary and high school. He graduated from Belgrade University`s School of Political Sciences and got a masters degree in mass communications and publishing there in 1989. His masters thesis was `The PLO as a subject of international communicating`. As a member of the progressive Arab movement, he opte for the thesis thus contributing to the just struggle of the Arab people of Palestine and its revolution. His starting point in his approach to the theme was that historic and other questions of the movement, research into documentary, informative and communications aspects of the Palestinian struggle had not been seriously researched so far.
