EUGENE O`NEILL is generally acknowledged to be the greatest dramatist this country has produced. Born in 1888, his infancy and youth were spent in the atmosphere of the theater while his father, James O`Neill, toured the country in repertory companies. Eugene O`Neill spent a year at Princeton, several years as an able seaman, and in 1913 took Professor Baker`s famous playwriting course at Harvard. From that time until his death in 1953, Mr. O`Neill wrote over forty plays, winning the Pulitzer Prize four times and, in 1936, the Nobel Prize for Literature.
