Opis:

The novel is inspired by Goethe`s famous romance with Charlotte Buff, who served as the model for Lotte in his early novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. In Lotte in Weimar, an aging Charlotte, now known as `Lotte Kestner,` visits the German city of Weimar, where Goethe lives. The novel unfolds over the course of her stay and centers on her reflections and encounters with others who revere Goethe as a literary icon.

While Lotte hopes for a reunion that rekindles their past intimacy, she finds Goethe to be more reserved and distant, preoccupied with his stature and legacy.
