Why is the Royalist Resistance led by General Mihailovic in the North western Serbia 1941-1945 in special focus in our work? An understanding of the rise and failure of the Mihailovic resistance and the successful Communist seizure of power in Serbia and Yugoslavia requires a kind of micro examination of local events, in order to avoid of misleading generalisations and oversimplifications which have marred many of the Western attempts to come to grips with the history of the Second World War in Yugoslavia, particularly in Serbia. Our intention is to analyse this anti-Axis resistance structure on the relatively micro-level in order to show complexity of the Yugoslav-Serbian World War Two scene. This particular area is chosen because it provides a good example of the Royalist resistance in occupied Serbia from its beginning to its very end.
