About this book:
In this book, you will find over 300 symbols of sub-Saharan African peoples and tribes. To this day, a strongly expressive symbolism has been preserved in Africa, which shows itself in the ubiquitous ancestor worship, in art, and in daily life. These symbols range from ritual objects and masks, to the symbolic script ofthe Ashanti. They vary from utensils fraught with significance to ornaments and status symbols, all the way to the cave-paintings of the once fertile Sahara.
About the author & illustrator:
Early in her life, Heike Owusu had already acquired a spiritual view of the world. In her family and her social surroundings she encountered a lack of understanding for her spiritual interests. When a serious illness threatened her life, she conquered it with the help of autogenous training and a method of self-healing that she developed. Her great interest in the knowledge and mythology of the `natural peoples ` was only strengthened through the marriage with her Ghanaian husband. All of this released her artistic potential, and thus today she relates her knowledge in various ways: through cosmic pictures, illustrations, and literary work.
