This recording is remarkable in several important ways... Firstly, when a group composes something new it usually takes you on a journey. You only know what might happen because you have established a preconceived notion of the trip you are going on. You might think you are going on a journey that seems like jazz or rock.. To the degree that the band has abandoned the path and found a new way it could be said to be original. To anyone else who celebrates this, you will appreciate Zero 7.
Secondly, music is about emotions. I would love it if more music reviews talked about this. How does it make you feel? It might be energizing, evoke contemplation, self assuredness, even melancholy, angst or sadness. Zero seven is intelligent, strong, positive and lovely in terms of melodies that are round not jagged.
To sum up, I would say When It Falls is remarkably original, beautiful, confident lovely and melodic music with lyrics that seem positive and related to love and relationships. This band seems to live in an intelligent, hopeful world where love should prevail.
